ASB Kart Grand Prix
at the Algarve Kartódromo, Portimao,
Thursday 23rd January 2025
followed by lunch
at restaurant ‘O Caseiro’, Arao.
On Thursday 23rd January 2025, we invite you to celebrate the birthday of our founder and organizer of Algarve Senior Bikers, David Shirley.
This day is a birthday celebration and ‘thank you’ from members for the long-running success of Algarve Senior Bikers, not least for the charity support to the Gaivota Children’s Home in Albufeira.
For this occasion we have arranged an international kart grand prix at Kartódromo International Algarve, Portimao for David and ASB members.
A minimum of 30 drivers are required for our group reservation at the kartódromo.

ASB members, guests and friends are also welcome to enroll for the event. Non-drivers may come along spectate at the Kartódromo and take lunch with David and the drivers afterwards.
The day comprises:
1) Check at the Kartódromo: 10:00 am.
2) Kart Endurance Team Races: x2 drivers per team; 270cc race karts
3) Pre-Qualification session: 15 minute trial session.
4) The team endurance race: 60 minutes, total duration, shared by the two drivers in each team.
5) Race times for each of the teams will be registered by the Kartódromo race controllers.
A celebration of the three fastest lap/race times will follow.

The Cost to Participants:
The total price for the whole event is €75 per person (Kart Grand Prix and lunchtime meal)
Full payment will be taken on the day at the Kartodromo, for drivers and spectators.
There is no cost for spectators. Any coffee, drinks, snacks, etc. in the cafe are not included.
Please pay separately for these.
There will also be a donations collection for the Gaivota children’s home (the ASB charity).

In the case of high number of applicants, a reserve list will be established.
The price for karting includes:
the group endurance race event (above)
a deposit held against kart damage and insurance premium for personal cover is included in the fee.
Helmets are provided gratis by Kartódromo, but you may wish to bring your own bike helmet.
We recommend you bring your own protective clothing, jacket, gloves etc.
Friends and spectators are welcome to watch from the viewing area or cafe overlooking the track.
Please advise in advance if you bring a spectator(s).
After the kart race, everyone will all leave the Kartódromo, making your own way, to ride/travel to the lunchtime local restaurant, which is approximately 10kms to the south.
The Celebration Lunch at Restaurante O Caseiro
Lunch for all drivers will be held at Restaurante O Caseiro (in Arao) at approx. 13:00hrs.

The lunch is for all kart drivers plus non-driver spectators and guests subject to pre-registering.
The 'Meal Only' cost (for non-driver spectators and guests) is €20 per person;that includes a donation to the Gaivota charity fund.
The meal will be a traditional Portuguese Prato-da-Dia style menu, this includes:-
a couvert of bread and olives; one drink at the table, the main dish, a house dessert and coffee.
The choice of main dish is between grilled meat; grilled fish; or a vegetarian option.
Please pay for any extra drinks at the bar.
Please indicate your choice of main course when applying.
IMPORTANT:
All participants are to guarantee their participation, one week before the event.
Any one withdrawing at short notice must find a replacement driver, or forfeit the kart fee.
In the event of poor weather the event will be postponed.
