The Algarve Senior Bikers group was established in June 2010.
The result of an idea from David Shirley who initiated the first meeting. The informal group of experienced riders now meets on a regular basis to enjoy both the riding and the social aspect of motorcycling. Since the first meeting in Porches the group has grown to well over 200 members.
Meetings usually consist of a leisurely ride through the beautiful countryside of the Algarve and normally include stops for coffee and lunch. Between the usual monthly meeting members get together to go touring or visit motorcycle related events.
The group has members from several different countries and from all parts of the Algarve.
The ASB has no formal organisation and no fees are charged for membership or to take part in the rides. Members just pay for their own drinks and lunch. a small charge is added to the lunch price to cover administrion costs and a donation to the charity the group supports.
This is the Gaivota home for teenagers in Albufeira. So far over 10,000 euros has been raised and helped buy things for the home including laundry equipment , TV sets and air conditioning.
Events are open to members and guests and announced in the newspapers, on the website and Facebook.
Members also recieve notification of events by email.
